"The Legend of Suriyothai" is a 2001 Thai film directed by Prince Chatri Suksombat, based on a true story from the Ayutthaya period. The film tells the tale of Suriyothai, a brave and beautiful queen who risks everything to protect her kingdom and her people from invading forces.
The film is set in the 16th century, during the reign of King Maha Chakkraphat of Ayutthaya. Suriyothai, played by JeeJa Yanin, is the queen of Ayutthaya and the wife of the king. When the Burmese army invades the kingdom, Suriyothai takes charge of the defense, disguising herself as a man to lead the troops into battle.
